The Anambra State Police Command has unveiled a new strategy to strengthen community policing by partnering with skit makers, comedians and other digital content creators to promote peace, security awareness and responsible citizenship across the state.
The Command said the initiative is designed to harness the wide reach and influence of creative content producers to educate residents on crime prevention and encourage law-abiding behaviour, particularly among youths.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Awka, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the collaboration would also focus on discouraging cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime, gender-based violence, misinformation and other social vices, while fostering mutual trust and cooperation between the police and members of the public.
According to him, the initiative is in line with the Nigeria Police Force’s community policing philosophy and the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), which prioritises crime prevention through advocacy, public enlightenment and sustained youth engagement.
Ikenga noted that the Command remains committed to deploying innovative and inclusive approaches to enhance public safety and reduce crime across Anambra State.
He reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to work closely with relevant stakeholders, including creative industry players, to build a safer and more secure society through continuous public education and community participation.
